Compassion Planet experienced a loss of $378K in income from the cancellation of annual fundraiser events and from temporary closure of our two retail social enterprises. We also lost over 2,600 hours of volunteer time that contributes to the operation of our mentoring program and our social enterprises. Most importantly, the impacts on our program and Trainees have been significant. We cancelled the Spring 2020 group in our one-year Mentoring Program. At the time of shelter in place orders, service to our Trainees continued with little or no person to person contact, which at times, affected their morale and mental/emotional health, setting back their progress in our program. Since we resumed, the youth continue to struggle with trust and are experiencing some increased trauma due to ongoing social distancing restrictions.
